If your home is damaged by wind or fire, is your business
equipment protected? If your home/business is damaged beyond
use, can you afford for your business to shut down? If a
customer is injured while at your home/business, are you
protected?
This coverage provides extra protection over any applicable
coverage you may have through other insurance policies.
Homeowner's policies do not provide coverage for business
related liability claims that occur at your home. Nor do they
provide temporary relocation expense for your home business in
the even the premises are not usable as the result of a
covered loss.
Most homeowner's policies provide very limited coverage for
your business equipment. Increased equipment coverage may be
added to your homeowner's policies for an additional premium,
but business liability coverage and temporary relocation
expense cannot. A small-business policy can cost anywhere from
$300 to $700 or more.
